Frustration, depression&misery is what plus size women go through when shopping for clothes. I’m talking from experience.I know this topic has been brought up a lot of times but it’s still a touchy topic&and im all about empowering plus size women to look and feel good.I never loved my body the way I should, I would constantly run away from the mirror because I was scared of the image I saw, it didn’t feel beautiful&sexy.Until I came to realize that THIS IS ME,I come from a family of fully figured women, its genetic no running away from it, but a healthy lifestyle is key . I don’t refer to myself as fat,I simply called myself a curvaceous, voluptuous,Fully figured& an African woman. I will not put myself down because people have a problem with me being curved in the right places.
Many full-figure women have voiced frustration on message boards, chat rooms and blogs about the lack of fashionable resources for them. And I see a great amount of stepping up in fashion brands bringing out cutting-edge styles.Having fashion labels design clothes to fit plus size women is a blessing. We live in a generation where being full figured is discriminated&being mirrored as Obese. The perfect body image that is worshiped is model sized bodies. Why can’t women embrace their African bodies without insults& succumbing to media pressure to starve themselves&strive to get the ‘perfect body’?To make the most of your beautiful, fuller-figure, there are some simple approaches to keep in mind when dressing and purchasing clothes.I present to you 10 Steps to consider when shopping
1.WEAR CLOTHES THAT FIT
Don’t wear clothes that are too loose or that are too tight. Find a fit that’s right for you.
2.EMPHASIZE YOUR BEST FEATURES.
hair? Killer legs? Choose styles that show off these features. Focus attention on your cleavage or lips with a pretty blouse or lipstick, while using a discreet belt or sweater to tone down your middle. If your waist is narrower than the rest of your torso, show it off with a brighter belt.
3.SHOP BY WHAT FITS YOUR BODY, NOT BY WHAT THE SIZE LABEL SAYS.
Try on the same piece in two or three sizes, and choose the one that flatters your body the most. This means that even if it says the right size on the tag but squeezes your love handles out, don’t buy it.
BUYING APPROPRIATE UNDERGARMENT IS KEY.
A supportive bra can make you take over the world&conquer. Department store attendants are helpful in determining if a bra fits or not,Get help if you not sure. It is recommended that you buy a cup size that covers all of your breast, both on the side and in front (unless you are buying a push-up bra). Also make sure the bra is comfortable; sizes are not universal. One size from a certain company may feel great, yet the same size from another company may feel way too tight. Be patient and try things on. This goes for panties too.
5.CONSIDER GETTING UNDERGARMENTS THAT IS SMOOTH&SHAPE.
This not only helps clothes fit better but boosts confidence!! No more underwear lines,Giving you the confidence you deserve.
6.BE DETERMINED TO BE STYLISH.
Don’t settle for clothes just because they fit. Look for stylish clothes that are well made, and consider buying them as an investment. When you wear clothes that look great, you will feel great, and people will notice and compliment you
7.CARRY YOURSELF WITH CONFIDENCE.
Be happy with who you are this is more important and speaks louder than your clothes or size ever will.Be comfortable with your body&lift your head up high.
8.HAVE FUN DESPITE WHAT OTHERS THINK YOU SHOULD&SHOULD NOT WEAR.
“What to wear”Type shows say not to wear this or that and that advice has its merits. But if you really like those leopard print tights, wear them! Just wear neutral, brown, or black clothes to tone them down. It is okay to be daring or bright despite being a plus size, just do it with style .
9.WEAR A STRAIGHT-UP-AND-DOWN OR BOOT-CUT JEANS OR PANT.
These will take the emphasis off your hips and butt and also compliment your curves. Pair them with pointy-toed shoes to make your legs seem longer.
10.WHEN SHOPPING FOR EVENING WEAR, REMEMBER THAT YOU AREN’T LIMITED TO JUST DRESSES.
Try a black dress pant paired with a bright top and great shoes. If you do decide to go with a dress, make sure it fits! Strapless can be tricky for a bigger bust, so be careful.A tulip skirt can also do wonders on a plus-size lower half.
