J&B Met 2015

One of South Africa’s biggest&loved horse racing event. Its an exquisite outdoor social, fashion and sporting events of the year. The J&B Met will merge equestrian prowess with high fashion at the Kenilworth Race course in Cape Town on Saturday, 31 January 2015.

This year’s theme, ‘Made for the Mix’, celebrates the unique result that comes from mixing contrasting elements and encourages the well-heeled to shake things up on the fashion front with multiple styles of sophisticated and glamorous garb. I am looking forward to seeing the Haute Couture in the red carpet, glam at its best. While tradition and equestrian pageantry may constitute the core of the historical horse race, the J&B Met is just as much about ground-breaking haute couture that challenges conventions and celebrates bold attitudes. It’s about decadence, debauchery and ‘who’ you’re wearing.
The Met challenges the fashion designers&the attendees to be limitless. Dare or to be dared,I trust&believe South African designers will not disappoint. They will go all out for the event.
What to expect at the Met:
EQUESTRIAN EVENT OF THE SEASON: Billed as South Africa’s most prestigious horse racing event, the J&B Met offers equestrian enthusiasts the opportunity to see the country’s finest thoroughbreds test their mettle in nail-biting races, the best of the lot competing for a stake of R2.5 million in the main event. Bid on buxom chestnuts or strapping dapple greys and schmooze with the rich and famous in the summer sun.

GLITZ, GLAMOUR AND GALLOPING: Apart from witnessing the fine specimens on the track gallop to the finishing line, regular Joes can rub shoulders with the movers and shakers of the horse racing industry at this esteemed sporting event. What’s more, this summertime favourite also sees high-profile celebrities come out of the shadows to enjoy a day of fun and fashion in the Cape Town sun; spot your favourite soapie star, presenter or fashionista!. Mingle, mingle, mingle that’s part of the event. Smile, give hugs&be fabulous.

THE MOST ELEGANT COUPLE: Dress differently and take part in the annual highlight, the Most Elegant Couple competition. This much-anticipated contest is, aside from the elegant horses, the highlight of the day. Entrants with quirky, theme-relevant and uber glamourous outfits parade their race-day wear while the judges deliberate on which pair will be the most elegant of them all.

FOOD, DRINKS & LIVE ENTERTAINMENT: This time around the event will set up a Public Village on the winning straight of the racecourse. This open-to-the-public arena will host food trucks, public bar facilities, ample seating and shade. What’s more, this general access zone will also have entertainment on the bill, with one of Cape Town’s biggest radio stations on site and one of South Africa’s leading bands as the main act.
